DR JOHN N GORDON

MB BS DM FRCP

Dr Gordon qualified from the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1993 and undertook his early postgraduate training in London, and then Australia, before joining the Wessex Specialist Gastroenterology Training Programme working in Portsmouth, Southampton, and Winchester.


He spent 4 years developing his research interest with Professor Tom McDonald in Southampton and in 2006 was awarded a DM for his research into novel therapeutic targets in Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.


Dr Gordon was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Winchester in 2008 where he is the Endoscopy lead and also the clinical lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service.


He also has a strong interest in therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP and colonic EMR and is an accredited bowel cancer screener and mentor for the Hampshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.


Dr Gordon has published extensively in the area of inflammatory bowel disease and is currently the principal investigator for a variety of national NIHR studies in IBD.
